caught snow white and the huntsman on saturday with baby, mummy, sis, nephew, niece, my cousin and her husband. its a pretty awesome movie me thinks! loved the effects! mummy would say i love it cause there's a dark edge to it. and i would definitely agree! hee!
SPOILER ALERT!
i know kristen stewart's snow white is the main lead, but the one who caught my attention was charlize theron as the evil queen! not only was she gorgeous, she was so convincing in her role. she portrayed the evil queen to a whole new level. i could feel the real reason as to why she was so obsessed with being the fairest of them all. others probably simply dismissed her as a psycho evil queen crazy over eternal beauty, but what i saw (and what the director probably wanted us to understand) was a pitiful woman bounded by her mother with dark magic as a young girl, prophesied (or cursed) to be the most beautiful woman in the world, until she met a young, innocent girl or purest blood, who would either help secure her 'most beautiful being' title (by eating her heart - eww, i know!) or be her ultimate undoing.
what i feel that led her to become the evil psychotic vain queen was her mother, who told her that her greatest weapon would be her beauty, and urged her to seek revenge when her entire village was murdered and she and her brother captured. caught in all the blind hatred, sorrow, vanity and the need to fulfill the prophesy (to her advantage), she became the heartless, dark queen that she was.
anyway, that's just my opinion and feelings from watching the movie. maybe i interpreted it wrongly, but who cares? i'm not doing a movie review, just stating my honest opinions. and like i said, charlize theron is sooooo beautiful. she's pretty real life, but i think her role as the evil queen upped her beauty factor 10 times!
i'm impressed with how beautiful she looked even at her most psychotic moment, screaming, yelling and going completely bersek. how can anyone be this gorgeous?
i like kristen stewart's everyday and red carpet style. she does the dark, brooding rock star look well. charlize's style is probably more normal fashion, but her pure beauty beats kristen's hands down.
#1 charlize theron as the evil queen
one other eye candy in the show was chris hemsworth (the huntsman)! he has both the look and the voice. he's good in the looks department, but it is his voice and accent that scored even higher brownie points for me! preferred him over sam claflin (william, aka the duke's son/prince), who was just...blah. though i was really both amazed and impressed with william's ability to utilise both the bow & arrow and the sword at the same time. really! he was like...shoot shoot shoot, slash. shoot shoot shoot, slash...awesome! and did i mention i adored archers? love them! like orlando bloom's character in lord of the rings and jennifer lawrence in the hunger games.
as for kristen's acting...well, like i tweeted after the movie, her acting only seems to consist of two kinds of expressions - the constipated, in pain look, and the deep breathing, gonna hyperventilate look. i've seen enough of those expressions in the twilight series (i love the novels, but the movies were rather fail i think), so i wasn't really up for more of that. overall went quite okay though, if i ignore those expressions (kinda hard though).
major loves for the ending theme song! guessed that the song is by florance + the time machine. sounded like her voice and her style..a quick youtube search confirmed my guess! so in love with the song! i currently have it on replay. haha. really, like same song for the past one hour plus! yes, i am that extreme when i'm addicted to a particular song!
to those who are wondering, the song is titled 'breath of life' by florance + the time machine.
