the help

during my ideas and critical analysis class last week, my lecturer made us watch the movie, 'the help'. she didn't explain why we were watching the movie, just said we had to watch it.

and so we did.

it was after the movie ended that she told us that the movie would be tested in our final exam. we needed to state and explain the themes of this movie, some of which includes friendship, racism and discrimination.

needless to say, everyone was stunned into silence...then the chatter and complaints came. the only thought in my mind was, thank god i actually enjoyed the movie and paid attention! my next thought was, i need to rent the movie and watch it again! this time must pay attention to the details and study it! (whatever it means to study a movie.)

so i rented it, and watched it last night with my baby.

i personally think its a pretty awesome movie. it's about an aspiring author during the civil rights movement of the 1960s who decides to write a book detailing the African-American maids' point of view on the white families for which they work, and the hardships they go through on a daily basis.

it's quite interesting, with a few laughable scenes here and there, as well as tear jerking ones! i'd recommend y'all to watch it!
